Crickdose: Three Reasons Why England Deserved To Beat India In the Test Series

Well, the long Test Series between England and India is finally over and England have managed to bring the trophy home. Although a couple of matches were too close for comfort, England always seemed in control. So let us look at the top 5 reasons why England deserved to beat India in the Test Series:

1) Bowling Dominance

England’s bowlers dominated the series. From day one, it was clear that they were too good for the Indian batsmen. They managed to make use of the conditions and take early wickets each time. The Indian team always struggled to put up a big score on the board. Once England got Virat Kohli in any innings, they always seemed to power through the rest. Moeen Ali played a good supporting role to the seamers. Anderson was great as usual, and Broad also chipped in. Rashid’s performances were okay but the fans had higher expectations. Still, England dominated the series with the ball and managed to keep India’s batsmen quiet.

2) Middle Order

England’s middle order performed very well throughout the series. They managed to repair the flaws of the top order. Although England did not have a consistent opening partnership throughout the series, they were well backed up by the middle order and the lower order. Jos Buttler and Jonny Bairstow played well with the bat to push India out of the contest. They were well supported by Sam Curran, who was the find of the series for England.

3) Bouncebackability

England showed good ability to bounce back in this series. Once India made it 2-1 after the third test, there was a lot of talk about a comeback. This was especially relevant in the sense that India won the third test by a handsome margin. However, England bounced back very well and went on to make it 3-1. Finally, they managed to dominate India in the fourth test and ultimately won the series 4-1 easily.

England showed good fighting ability throughout the series although they need to work on some areas such as the opening partnership and getting their balance right. They will hope that they can continue this form throughout a tough winter schedule. On the other hand, India need to reflect on their performances and make sure that they focus on building a more stable team in the future. Overall, England won the series deservedly.
