Crickdose: Three Things We Learned From South Africa’s Clean Sweep of Sri Lanka in the T20Is

South Africa have crushed Sri Lanka 3-0 in the T20I series. The Proteas have managed to outperform the Sri Lankans in all departments of the game and completed another clean sweep after the ODIs. So here are the top three things that we learned from South Africa’s 3-0 win over Sri Lanka:

1) Tremendous Tahir

Imran Tahir has had a fantastic series. The leg spinner has continued his fine run of form and has continued to puzzle the Sri Lankan batsmen. Further, he has given very little away in terms of runs, showing his control over line and length. He will surely be missed by South Africa once he retires later this year. Perhaps his celebrations will be missed even more than his bowling!

2) Rampaging Reeza

Reeza Hendricks has been a good find for South Africa. He managed to smash the ball to all parts during the series. The Proteas have struggled to replace Graeme Smith on a permanent basis, but if Hendricks continues this way, he may be able to fill in. He has the ability and the temperament to deal with any situation.

3) Sri Lanka’s Troubles

Sri Lanka hardly competed during this series. Their best chance was in the first T20 where they tied the game after the 20 overs and could have won it. But Dickwella missed the target with his throw and this sums up Sri Lanka on this tour. They have managed to miss so many opportunities and this has cost them big time.

To sum up, the South Africans have continued their fine run of form in white ball cricket. The team has improved its consistency over the past year and at this rate they may have an outside chance in the upcoming World Cup!
