Bangladesh have been improving as a white-ball team in recent times. They have just beaten Zimbabwe in a T20I series, and they could prove to be a tough side to beat in the T20 World Cup later this year. So, here are the top three things that we learned from Bangladesh’s T20I series win over Zimbabwe:
1) Dashing Das
Liton Das has had a superb few months with the bat. His average in recent white-ball matches has been simply outstanding. He continued this form in this series as well, taking apart the bowlers in all of the matches. His partnership with Tamim seems to be flourishing, and they are now one of the most destructive opening pairs.
2) Tremendous Tamim
Tamim Iqbal also had a superb series with the bat. Tamim has also been appointed the team’s new captain. He got his team off to a flying start throughout the series, showing his class with the bat. His team will be hoping that Tamim can show the same form during the 2020 ICC T20 World Cup, and lead his team to the semi-finals at the very least.
3) Bowlers Struggle
Zimbabwe’s bowlers had a real tough time during this series. They were taken apart by the Bangladeshi top order in particular. Although the spinners bowled better at times, they were simply unable to stop the run flow. Zimbabwe really needs to find some new talent in the bowling department soon.
To sum up, Bangladesh have shown once again that they can be very consistent in white-ball cricket, especially at home. Bangladesh will be hoping to continue this form throughout the year and even beyond!
India are the number one Test team in the world. However, their overseas record has been questioned in recent times. The Indians have lost another series, as the Kiwis beat them 2-0 in the tests. So, here are the top three things that we learned from New Zealand’s test series win over India:
1) Brilliant Boult
Trent Boult is now a really experienced campaigner. He managed to swing the ball during this series, taking wickets consistently. In the second test, he took crucial wickets in the second innings, leading his team to victory. Boult has been a superb performer for his side for a number of years, and he could lead his side to a number one ranking soon.
2) Superb Jamieson
Kyle Jamieson has been a superb find for the Kiwis. The tall young bowler was named as the man of the series. He managed to trouble the Indian batsmen throughout the series. He also managed to take a five-wicket haul, proving his credentials along the way. He is a great prospect for the New Zealanders.
3) Inconsistent Kohli
Virat Kohli has been the world’s best batsman over the past few years. However, this tour has not been the best one for him. He did not manage a single fifty during the entire test series. His poor form coincided with the team’s poor performance. He will be hoping to bounce back from this very soon.
To sum up, New Zealand have shown that they are a great test side. Their record at home is really great, and they will be hoping to continue this form in the future. On the other hand, India need to improve their performance significantly.
Australia returned to South Africa for the first time since the ball-tampering scandal. The two teams faced off in a T20I series recently, and Australia have managed to beat the Proteas 2-1. So, here are the top three things that we learned from Australia’s T20I series win over South Africa:
1) Wonderful Warner
David Warner was a central figure in the ball-tampering scandal. He seemed to be determined to make up for it in this series. Warner showed superb form with the bat, building strong partnerships with Aaron Finch along the way. He played some really attractive shots, allowing his team to win the series easily.
2) Sensational Smith
Another player that was embroiled in the ball-tampering scandal was Steve Smith. He also redeemed himself to an extent in this series. Smith played a couple of useful knocks for his team, ensuring that they managed to beat the Proteas. Smith will be hoping to continue this form in the upcoming ODI series as well.
3) Inconsistent Rabada
Kagiso Rabada has not had a great time of it in recent months. The young pacer was banned by the ICC in the series against England. His form with the ball has also not been great. This series again showed that Rabada is not yet up to full speed. He was quite inconsistent in this series, failing to pick up as many wickets as he would have liked.
To sum up, Australia showed once again that they would be contenders for the upcoming T20 World Cup in October. The Aussies have been slowly gaining momentum in this format of the game, and they could be a real force on their own pitches.
England had won the test series in South Africa fairly convincingly. However, the ODI series between the two teams was drawn. England have managed to win a closely-fought ODI series to cap a successful tour. So, here are the top three things that we learned from England’s T20I series win over South Africa:
1) Tremendous Morgan
Eoin Morgan had a truly wonderful series. He managed to make some really important contributions with the bat in hand. In addition to this, his captaincy was also superb. England had lost the first match of the series, and yet they came back to win the series. Morgan’s efforts were rewarded as he was named as the Player of the Series.
2) Superb Ngidi
Lungi Ngidi had a great series with the ball for South Africa. He managed to win the first match for his side on his own. He defended 7 runs in the final over, taking 3 wickets in the match overall. Similarly, he also took another two wickets in the third match of the series, showing that he can be a consistent T20 bowler.
3) Superb Stokes
Ben Stokes also had a superb series for his side. He was especially good in the second match of the series. England really wanted him to tee off in that match, as they had to put up a strong total on the board. Stokes came to the party and smashed 47 runs off just 30 balls. He took his team beyond 200 and England managed to sneak the win.
To sum up, England have shown that they can be a dominant force across formats. They had an extremely successful tour and will now be hoping to continue this momentum over the next few months.
The Indians had whitewashed the Kiwis in the T20I series. On the back of this result, nobody really gave the hosts a chance in the ODIs. However, New Zealand managed to shock everyone by whitewashing India in the ODI series. So, here are the top three things that we learned from New Zealand’s ODI series win over India:
1) Tremendous Taylor
Ross Taylor is now considered to be a veteran cricketer. Despite his age, he proved once again that he is still a force to be reckoned with. He was superb with the bat throughout the series, leading his team to a 3-0 whitewash. Taylor could also prove to be extremely dangerous in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
2) Tight Bowling
The New Zealand bowlers were superb during the series. A prime example of this is the way they were able to keep Virat Kohli quiet in the series. With Rohit Sharma also missing due to an injury, India’s batters simply did not have the answer to the superb bowling of the Kiwis. Kane Williamson will be proud of his boys.
3) Weak India
India’s performance in the field was simply not up to the mark. They managed to leak a lot of runs due to their poor fielding. At the same time, their bowling was also not too impressive. The biggest indicator of this was the fact that Jasprit Bumrah went wicketless in the series. India really need to improve their bowling in ODIs.
To sum up, New Zealand managed to turn things around fairly quickly. They were able to beat India comprehensively in this series, indicating that they are still a force in the ODIs. India will need to look at their bowling and come back stronger.
The test series between South Africa and England was dominated by the away side. England managed to win the series despite losing the first game. The ODI series has also begun well for South Africa. So, here are the top three things that we learned from South Africa’s ODI win over England:
1) Dashing De Kock
Quinton De Kock is the new ODI captain for South Africa. He showed his importance with the bat in this match. He smashed a quickfire century for his side, making sure that they chased down the target with ease. It has been a great start for the new captain, and he will be hoping to continue this in the next few matches.
2) Tremendous Temba
Temba Bavuma was making a comeback to the side after a long time. He has been a victim of too much media pressure in recent weeks. However, he came out strong in this match. Although he missed out on a century by just two runs, he showed his class with the bat. South Africa need him to continue this form.
3) Weak England
England’s bowling attack looked pretty toothless in this game. They were unable to restrict De Kock and Bavuma. Tom Curran and Chris Woakes simply did not take enough wickets in the match. It was a similar story for Parkinson, who was unable to control the flow of runs. England need to perform much better with the ball.
To sum up, South Africa showed that they have the ability to challenge any side in the world. They have just beaten the ODI world champions with ease. The South Africans will be hoping to continue this form and win the series.
India had never won a T20I series in New Zealand up until now. However, in the current five-match series, they have managed to show remarkable consistency to win the first three matches. So, here are the top three things that we learned from India’s T20I series win over New Zealand:
1) Superb Rohit
Rohit Sharma has been simply superb for India in the series till now. He played a crucial role for his side in the third T20I played yesterday. After the match had ended in a tie, India needed 10 off the last 2 balls of the super over. In such a complex situation, Rohit managed to hit two sixes to win the game for his side.
2) Sublime Kane
Kane Williamson has not been too consistent with the bat in recent series. However, he has managed to change this in the current series. He played superbly in the third T20I, scoring a quick-fire 95 for his side. New Zealand will be hoping that their captain can continue this form in the upcoming matches.
3) Unlucky Southee
Tim Southee continues to be extremely unlucky in super overs. He has not managed to bowl his team to a win in a super over for a long time. This happened again in the last match, as Rohit managed to smash two sixes off the bowling of Southee. He will be hoping to bounce back in the remaining two matches.
To sum up, India have managed to win their first series in New Zealand on the basis of their strong batting. Their top-order looks in great form, and they will now be looking to complete a whitewash over the Kiwis.
India and Australia have just completed a hard-fought three-match ODI series. Although Australia won the first match, India managed to bounce back and win the series. So, here are the top three things that we learned from India’s ODI series win over Australia:
1) Superb Rohit
Rohit Sharma had a superb 2019, and he has begun 2020 in the same form. He smashed a century against Australia in the third match, making sure that his team went over the line. He is looking unstoppable at the moment, although New Zealand will be a real test of his batting abilities. Let’s hope he lives up to the expectations of Indian fans.
2) Sublime Kohli
What more can be said about Virat Kohli? He continued his superb record in ODI chases and is only behind MS Dhoni in terms of his record in the second innings of ODIs. He had a superb partnership with Rohit Sharma in the decider, making sure that India won the game. He also played a good hand in the second match of the series.
3) Smith Battle
Although Steve Smith managed to score an ODI century after a long time, the feelings are bittersweet for him. His team lost the series despite having won the first game comprehensively. In the final ODI, Smith gave it his all, but he simply could not accelerate enough at the end. The Aussies really needed a bigger total in the game.
To sum up, this series was a really intense one, as both teams gave it their all. It was not a long series, but the intensity compensated for the length. India are now off to New Zealand, while the Australians are going back to play in the Big Bash.
India and Australia are currently involved in a three-match ODI series. Although India are playing at home, the Aussies dominated them in the first match. So, here are the top three things that we learned from Australia’s win over India in the first ODI:
1) Wonderful Warner
David Warner smashed yet another ODI century in this match. His partnership with Aaron Finch was extremely good, making sure that the Aussies chased down the target with ease. Warner has one of the best century conversion rates in ODI history, and he proved his abilities once again. He will be hoping to continue this form.
2) Fantastic Finch
Warner’s partner Finch also smashed a century of his own. In recent years, Finch has become a tremendous ODI player. He managed to smash the Indian bowlers all over the park. At no point did he seem uncomfortable on the pitch. Aaron Finch could play a key role for the Aussies during this series.
3) Clever Cummins
The Indian batting line-up simply did not get going in this match. This was mostly due to the superb bowling of Pat Cummins. Cummins is among the finest bowlers of this generation, and he proved it once again. He managed to contain the Indian batsmen superbly. He could be a major threat for India in the upcoming matches.
To sum up, this match showed that India could be beaten at home. Nevertheless, they will be looking to bounce back shortly. The batters will need to perform much better than they did, although the bowling also needs to improve. If India can bounce back, it could make for a compelling series.
After the first T20I was washed out by rain, the second T20I became even more important for both teams. India managed to win the match comprehensively, as Sri Lanka surrendered a good position in the match. So, here are the top three things that we learned from India’s T20I win over Sri Lanka:
1) Superb Saini
Navdeep Saini proved to be the key player for India in this match. He bowled fast and was extremely accurate as well. He managed to get his yorkers right, and the Sri Lankan batsmen had no answer. He also managed to touch speeds up to 147 kmph, which is fantastic for him. India will expect a lot from him going forward.
2) Wonderful Virat
Virat Kohli played well with the bat. He managed to spend time on the wicket and made the target look very easy. He also finished the match with a six, sealing a good win for his side. 2020 could be an important year for Virat, as he will be leading his team in the T20 World Cup. He will hope to continue this form in that tournament later this year.
3) Weak Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka did not have a bad start with the bat. Their openers showed good intent, and they were in a decent position after the first 9 overs. However, it was a completely different story after that. The middle-order could not capitalise, and their weaknesses were exposed again. They managed to post just 142, which India chased down easily.
To sum up, this match showed how dominant India could be at home. They chased down the target with ease, and they’ll be hoping to continue this form in the upcoming matches. Virat would accept nothing less.
